What the duty calculator does
Indian import duty is not a single number — it is a stack of components that depend on the HS code, the country of origin and applicable notifications. Zavitec brings these together into one estimate and shows how it is built up, typically including:
- Basic Customs Duty (BCD)
- Social Welfare Surcharge (SWS)
- IGST and, where relevant, Compensation Cess
- Additional duties and cesses that apply to the code
What you provide and what you get
You provide an 8-digit HS/CTH code and the country of origin (and an assessable value to compute amounts). Zavitec returns an estimated total duty percentage and a line-by-line breakdown, with the effective rate for each component.
Not sure of the code? Start with Indian HS code lookup, then come back to estimate duty.
Who it is for
Importers and buyers estimating landed cost, exporters advising customers on likely duties, and logistics or finance teams budgeting for a shipment.
Limitations and when to seek review
Duty results are an informational estimate and should be verified before filing. Final liability can vary with product specifications, exemptions, notifications, trade agreements and shipment conditions. For high-value shipments or unusual cases, request a human-reviewed calculation.
